D.H. Griffin along with private partners, purchased the former MillerCoors facility in 2018 after it had been shuttered for several years. During the real estate marketing activities, Nestle-Purina decided that the location in Eden, NC would be the perfect location for its new world-class pet food facility. The company will invest $300 million in the project and create up to 250 jobs over the next five years.
D.H. Griffin started its activities by doing a thorough environmental site assessment with a third-party environmental engineering firm. This is an important step for Food and Beverage Facilities to make sure they follow all local rules and regulations.
Next, D.H. Griffin began the complex and painstaking selective demolition and dismantlement process, removing the exterior processing facilities and bringing the interior of the building back to shell condition. In addition, D.H. Griffin demolished and removed the legacy coal fired power plant so that Nestle-Purina could utilize more green energy. During this phase of the work, DHG utilized both its sophisticated equipment fleet and our team’s creative engineering approach to find ways that the client could capitalize and reimagine the current facility.
After demolition activities were completed, our infrastructure and contracting services teams arrived on site. From underground utilities, storm systems, sanitary sewer, and processed waste utilities there was a lot of work required to tie new sections of the plant in with the old. Our contracting company was selected to do all the mechanical and electrical contracting.
As a third generation, family-owned company, D.H. Griffin is proud of the work that they do with clients investing in the Southeast and bringing new industries to our community. D.H. Griffin’s quality workmanship, commitment to safety, and culture of excellence are why their clients continue to partner with them for projects large and small. They take pride in their work, and they are committed to customer satisfaction every step of the way.
