Ecusta Paper Plant Dismantling & Demolition
Brevard, NC

Work began May 2008 on the demolition and removal of the entire defunct paper mill in mountains near Asheville, North Carolina. Work included removal of hazardous materials including asbestos and universal wastes throughout the 2.1 million SF facility prior to dismantling and removal of equipment and structures. DHG dismantled and removed remaining equipment throughout the plant which was scrapped for recycling. Remaining equipment in machine shop was sold for reuse.

The second phase began after notification from the EPA that the environmental remediation was approved. This phase included demolition of approximately 400,000 square feet. DHG crushed and recycled concrete, brick and block for reuse and recycled ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Work also included mechanical and explosive demolition to drop elevated water tanks. Site was completed in 2011.
